Instructor:  Jack Horner

Course  Description

This class is conducted in watercolor as it is the most suitable medium for beginner and intermediate painters.

Day one begins with a slide presentation by the instructor who will use indigenous pictures to illustrate the four elements of a painting:  composition, drawing, value, and color.  Following is a demonstration of a local landscape emphasizing the process that encompasses those elements.  The scene is projected by slide on screen which is considered to be the next best thing to plein air painting.  The remaining two hours is allocated to the students who will complete the same painting under the watchful eye of the instructor.

Day two:  the instructor paints another scene from a slide projected on screen.  The students follow suit and complete the same painting by class dismissal.

Day three:  students bring their own reference material (photos, sketches) in order to produce their own painting from start to finish.  The reference material should be attributed to their own work.  By time of class dismissal each painting will be in exhibit ready form.
